Who We Are

We are a Christ-centered community with deep roots in Piedmont since 1879, committed to loving God, loving one other, and loving the world.

A Christ-Centered Community

The cross at the center of our logo shows that First Baptist Church of Piedmont, South Carolina is a community of faith committed to historic Baptist principles , built around, and centered on, the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Our church exists to exalt Him, proclaim His gospel, follow His example, obey His teachings, and share His love.  Our church is not just a gathering of individual believers, but a true community of believers who are diverse in many ways, but united around our faith in Jesus, who is infinitely greater than anything that could divide us.

Loving God

The circle in our logo, with no beginning and no end, symbolizes the eternal God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).  Jesus said the greatest commandment of all is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.  To love our God is the reason we live and our highest calling.  Our church expresses our love for God in worship (praising and glorifying God, praying, singing, giving, and hearing God’s word read and proclaimed).  Another way our church expresses our love for God is in deepening our relationships with God through Bible study, disciple development, and spiritual growth.

Loving One Another

Jesus taught us that our love for God is reflected in how we love one another.  He said that loving one another is the way the world will know that we belong to Him.  Our church expresses our love for one another in fellowship (sharing life together; welcoming, accepting, and including one another in the family of God; making church a spiritual home for all).  Our church also expresses our love for one another through ministry (supporting one another when life is hard, taking care of one another, praying for and encouraging one another).

Loving the World

The circle in our logo also represents the world around us.  It is a reminder of God’s great love for the world and Jesus’s great commission to go into all the world and make disciples.  Our church expresses our love for the world in missions.  We exist as a church to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed, near and far, by partnering with local, national, and international mission partners.  Our church also expresses our love for the world by community outreach – – reaching out to neighbors in Piedmont who are searching for a church home and serving them in whatever ways God leads us.
